trafalgar park opening

Although a little damp in the morning, the new upgrades to Trafalgar Park were on display including the shiny golden Webb Ellis trophy. Poppy spent some more time kicking a ball around with her football hero, Jeremy Brockie…. and asked for his autograph on her forehead like some of the older kids were doing. She was also invited to conduct the awesome Nelson City Brass Band just as the sun came out and the blue sky appeared for a lovely Nelson afternoon at the Park.

What a thrilling football practice this afternoon with All White superstar Jeremy Brockie coming along to Richmond Midgets to sign autographs and kick the ball around. We got him to sign a special little soccer ball and have a photo with Poppy. Go Wellington Phoenix & Newcastle Jets!

Our other favourite superstar footballer is Simon (Muppet) Noake who was in the paper this week – photo AND quote – in preparation for his tournament next week….. Good Luck Girls!

Welcome back to Nelson, Uncle Jono! Such a generous Uncle too… Poppy loves her new Nintendo DS and had a lovely time with him at football practice. It was a shame to see him off at the airport…. but we hope he has a fabulous time skiing in Queenstown!

We loved the Broadgreen Intermediate production of their original Fright School Musical. We especially loved seeing Tarrin & Pheobe on stage and Poppy’s lasting impression of the night was the tufts of coloured hair in the armpits of the Troll cheerleaders!

Poppy has been ‘dressing up’ for the bath this week. It’s been so funny seeing the variety of necklaces, headbands, glasses and other accessories she chooses to wear after all her clothes are off!

It’s fun to have lots of exciting activities put on in Nelson during the weekend. Today we spent time at the local church book fair where Poppy completed a bookmark-making task while I browsed for books. Then we did our usual Bunnings face-painting and craft before heading out to the Brook for the RDA Country Fair. From there we met up with GranJan & Yogi at the wharf for fish & chips and watching the Blessing of the Fleet.

Tonight we joined some friends on their special surprise holiday adventure – an icecream dessert in our jammies! The kids had a blast and Poppy loved every second of it.

Our new Richmond Library had it’s first holiday storytime with Lucy today….. Their big storytime chair is amazing! Poppy also enjoyed doing some craft afterwards.

Our beautiful new library was opened this morning and we thought they did an awesome job with the renovations. Poppy loved the ipod chair with surround sound and especially enjoyed the croc in the play pool. It was fun to watch Poppy’s friends Izzy and Eva helping their granddad the Mayor cut the ribbon during the official ceremony.
