red & splendid

Dimples Booties
Jo gave Poppy beautiful gifts today including these classy Dimples Booties with little bees on them. She also gifted the Flower Fairies of the Summer book by Cicely Mary Baker with the bookmark set to The Song of the Poppy Fairy which goes like this:

The green wheat’s a-growing,
The lark sings on high;
In scarlet silk a-glowng,
Here stand I.

The wheat’s turning yellow,
Ripening for sheaves;
I hear the little fellow,
Who scares the bird-thieves.

Now the harvest’s ended,
The wheat-field is bare;
But still, red and splendid,
I am there.

  • Motherhood is about raising - and celebrating - the child you have, not the child you thought you would have. It's about understanding that she is exactly the person she is supposed to be. And that, if you're lucky, she just might be the teacher who turns you into the person you are supposed to be.
