Yogi helped Poppy with her woodwork submission for Pet & Hobby Day… She has been playing with it all afternoon once they bought some coloured rubber bands to string between the nails.

After having lunch and doing some baking at the farm, we took off south to the Chook Farm & Mosaic day with the Home Ed kids. The chickens were beautiful and the mosaic activity was really fun. Poppy enjoyed glueing the tiles and stirring the grout mixture. On the way home we stopped in to take some photos at Quinney’s Bush and Poppy said hello to Sarah’s calf. Then she bounced at the Wakefield School Gala while I picked up a bag of great books from the sale. We got home just in time to watch GLEE – our new favourite TV show!
Poppy waited up until it got dark so we could drive up to Hart Road in Richmond and look out over the town below to watch fireworks. Poppy especially enjoyed standing on the car roof to get a better view. We drove down into town and chased a few front yard displays then watched the teenagers at Ben Cooper Park let off their combined haul before eyes started to close and it was time to come home.

Following our family tradition, we each choose a horse based entirely on it’s name and the relevance to our lives. This year I’ve chosen “Viewed” for myself and “Spin Around” for Poppy. GranJan chose “Daffodil” and Yogi has decided on “Leica Ding”. We each put in $5 and the closest to the line wins the pot. We’ll have dinner together in Cautley Street after watching the race. I remember in 2006 Poppy took her first steps during the running of the Melbourne Cup as Yogi and I watched!
