Poppy Ford: YouTube Video Editor

Poppy has been standing by herself for lengthy periods of time over the past two months. She can stoop down and stand back up and she can also dance and wiggle with her feet in one place. She has only ever taken 3 or 4 steps without holding something – she is quite fast walking around furniture or cupboards and now perfers to walk places holding someone’s hand than to crawl.

I took Poppy to Rabbit Island beach yesterday and introduced her to the waves for the first time. She wasn’t satisfied standing in the shallows and having the waves lap over her feet – she wanted to get further into the water. I let her get completely wet, but because I wasn’t in my togs, I couldn’t let her go too far. She got really upset when I kept bringing her back to the shallows! I’ll have to take her for a proper swim in the ocean soon while the water is lovely and warm.

Poppy is obviously enthralled with GranJan’s husky Anya. She learned the sign for DOG very early on (pat hand on thigh) and now mimicks her howling perfectly. She ‘talks’ about Anya several times a day and over the past two days has learned to say “ANYA” quite clearly. When she visits the farm, she has to talk to Anya before she can do anything else and will crawl around after her squealing in delight.

Poppy was up early checking out her presents from Santa under the tree. She opened all of them with a little help from Mummy and had fun playing with them before having her breakfast.

After a wee morning sleep, Mummy & Poppy went next door to Josh’s house to see what he got for Christmas. Poppy gave Josh a lovely alphabet caterpiller and Josh gave Poppy “Little Miss Christmas” for her Mr Men and Little Miss book collection.

Sarah and Mark wished Poppy a Merry Christmas…..

Then Poppy arrived at our other next door neighbours to see what the big girls got for Christmas…

Michelle and Melonie gave Poppy a beach ball and sand rake for the beach.

Trevor, Michelle, Melonie and Jo wished Poppy a happy day….

Off to the farm to open more presents with GranJan and Yogi.

Poppy had her bath and dressed in her “My First Christmas” jammies ready for her last sleep before Santa! She helped me put the last presents under the tree and put out carrots for Santa’s raindeer. Then she went to bed with a big smile… looking forward to the morning.

Poppy waited in line for Santa this morning at the Richmond Mall. I thought she might be wary of him like she was with the Christchurch Santa – but I backed her onto his knee so she didn’t come face to face with his big white beard until after the shot.
