Congratulations to Richard Carruthers for his 100th show. We went to all three productions this season and really enjoyed them all.

Another beautiful Nelson day saw us at Rabbit Island in the afternoon. Adrienne has a new camera so took a bunch of shots of Poppy playing in the sand….

The final two shows on Saturday were as wonderful as the previous two (and before that, two dress rehearsals!). Yogi, GranJan & NeeNe were there on Saturday night – and I also spotted Poppy’s first ballet teacher, Sheree, in the lobby ready for the show. Poppy was excited and a ball of energy – she did so well to remember everything and perform to her best every time the curtain went up. She was in her element and I will endeavor to find more opportunities for her to participate in productions. It was such a positive experience – even the hair-dressing (which was sometimes painful) was a magical piece of the whole adventure.
I would like to personally thank Peta Spooner and Jane Pascoe for their energy and commitment to providing this amazing opportunity for their young students & especially their kindness and patience with Poppy. After all, she is still only 4 years old! In the programme they mention their philosophy….

Peta Spooner’s dance studio has been engrossed in rehearsals for their Theatre Royal production this year. Poppy is in 4 dances and enjoys being on stage more than I can describe. I’ve been keeping her awake until 9pm each night for the past 2 weeks so she will cope with the three night – one matinee show schedule. I’ve had to learn how to be a ballet mum quickly because her hair has to be in a bun and I’ve never had to use hairclips and hairnets before. Add to that the bright red lipstick and costumes and we’ve got a show! Here are some photos from the dress rehearsal….

Poppy’s final term play was about a toy maker and his toys – so Poppy chose to be Dorothy the Dinosaur for her part in it. She has loved her drama class and her teacher, Hester, is amazing. We are looking forward to the production on stage for the end of the year.
