continuing christmas
Unfortunately, a gift from Christopher in Aussie didn’t make it under the tree in time for Christmas Day – so Poppy helped wrap it once it arrived and we gave it to Yogi & GranJan on his behalf…
dr seuss
Green Eggs and Ham has been such a favourite with Poppy that I’ve decided to introduce her to the whole Dr Seuss family – including the movies and audio ebooks. I will also loosely structure a preschool unit study using language arts concepts from the books and various other activities – including making our own green eggs and ham meal! We have already been working on opposites and rhyming words, so blending with relevant books from the series should be fairly smooth.

Poppy especially enjoys the WOULD NOT, COULD NOT repetition and said “Let Me BE!” when I asked her to shut down her laptop for dinner yesterday!
colin thompson

We have only recently discovered Colin Thompson’s childrens books and absolutely love the illustrations. The descriptions are beautifully written and I love reading these books aloud.
We have read The Paperbag Prince and The Paradise Garden and very keen to borrow as many others from the library as we can.
Poppy enjoys the intracies of the images and will point out new things each time we read.
His other books are:
- Pictures Of Home
- Looking For Atlantis
- Ruby
- How To Live Forever
- The Tower To The Sun
- The Last Alchemist
- Falling Angels
- The Violin Man
- Castles
- The Big Little Book of Happy Sadness
- Sometimes Love Is Under Your Foot
