pa’s birthday picnic

Poppy’s Pa (Great-Grandfather) celebrated his 79th birthday today and we arranged a picnic at Pelorus for him. Yogi brought his camping stove and fried up some scallops as an appitiser. Adrienne made salmon mousse and GranJan prepared chicken and pastry rolls with a yummy lemon slice for afters. Poppy ate everything with great enthusiasm and had a lovely time with Ma & Pa. She helped Pa open his birthday gifts and went for a walk with Ma – then played with the ball and shouted BOO from behind things.

dishwasher

Poppy was excited to help Mummy empty the dishwasher this morning.  Usually she isn’t allowed to help because she tries to crawl into the dishwasher – however, today she helped by picking up items and passing them to Mummy who was putting things away.  It was all working out well until we got to the cutlery – after Mummy removed the knives, Poppy decided she needed to ‘test’ all the clean forks and spoons by putting them in her mouth before passing them over.  Needless to say, the whole lot went back in the dishwasher once we finished!

red bike

Not that Poppy NEEDS another battery operated vehicle after her Daddy’s gift of a big Gator – but Mummy had already bid on this red bike on TradeMe beforehand! The price was excellent and the lovely couple that dropped it off really enjoyed seeing Poppy jump on and take off around the lawn. It will teach Poppy to steer a little easier than the Gator which may be more suitable in a few months. Also, it allows Poppy to have something to ride at home while the Gator is a farm toy. It’s also small enough for the back of Adrienne’s car so trips to Ben Cooper park up the road will also be fun.
