Poppy brought home her first painting today from Tiny Tots… it now has pride of place on the fridge.
1st annual sandcastle contest
We couldn’t have ordered a better morning on the beach for Poppy’s first birthday party! All her friends turned up ready for a big sandcastle contest. We beat the tide and constructed some awesome sand sculptures before singing Happy Birthday and eating poppy-shaped cheese biscuits and poppyseed cupcakes.
Fairmont won the contest prize of a red spade with his sand tractor.
Poppy ate her first ever cake and really enjoyed the icing and marshmellow flower petals!

Today is Yogi’s birthday!
After singing and sharing presents, GranJan took Yogi to The Naked Bun for a vanilla slice – his favourite!
1st birthday tea
Finally GranJan and Yogi arrive home from overseas – so we had Poppy’s 1st Birthday tea together on the 2nd of February this year! Poppy enjoyed her roast chicken and salad with grapes for dessert and learned to say Hip Hip Horray with her hands in the air! She is wearing her new John Deere pink dress sent over for her birthday from Grandpa Bill.
one year old today
Poppy has had a day filled with laughter, play, fun and her favourite foods – including grapes! She squealed with delight on her new bouncy castle from GranJan & Yogi and enjoyed playing with her special custom-made Tinkerdoodle ragdoll DeeDee from Mummy. Fred dropped over in the afternoon to sing Happy Birthday and give Poppy a Peek-a-Block set. She opened and read several cards from friends and she also opened a package from Grandpa Bill containing a pink John Deere dress for her to wear whilst riding the John Deere toy he sent over for Christmas!
Unfortunately, GranJan and Yogi were stuck in Los Angeles due to a plane maintenance issue. They were due in early on February 1st but we’ll have to wait until tomorrow to have our special birthday tea.

Poppy’s friend Ayla was camping in Mapua for the long weekend, so Poppy joined her for lunch one day to try out her tent.
