giggle girl

A funny thing happened yesterday afternoon – Poppy started to giggle.  She has always had an enthusiastic chuckle and a squealing laugh, but this was different.  It was a giggle and she giggled endlessly for 2 hours until she went to bed!  She giggled at everything and at nothing – she giggled while she was eating and in the bath.  She even giggled while her nappy was being changed.  This morning I wondered if the giggling would continue – sure enough, the minute after she woke up and called out “MUMMMMMY!” Poppy started giggling.  I wonder if she will giggle like this for the rest of her life and I’ll tell her “I remember the day you started that silly giggling!”

As I tucked her into bed with her poppy blankie and Elmo, I shot some video of her giggling at me pulling kissy faces at her.  Watch Giggle Girl Video.

roseola

Poor wee Poppy has been sick.  She was feverish and lost her appetite over the weekend and then on Monday a pink rash appeared.  After checking with the doctor, it’s confirmed she has Roseola or Baby Measles.  The rash lasted for 3 days and the virus also came with a cough and runny nose.

We’ve been attempting to keep things interesting without being able to go out and about.  The bath has been a great source of amusement and we’ve learned lots of new games with water. We had our own Music & More class here at home and we also watched quite a bit of TV while lying on the couch.  Yogi & GranJan have been visiting too.  Poppy’s new favourite word is “up” which she has been using constantly to be close to Mummy while she is sick.

Here is some information about this childhood disease.

18 months old

At 18 months old Poppy is a confident walker with spurts of energetic running.  Pulling and pushing toys are fun for her as well as riding on anything with wheels. She is able to walk backwards and loves dancing around and around to her Wiggles music.  She copies the dancing moves on the TV and is able to sing along and repeat tunes.  She participates fully in her music class and often offers herself as the teacher’s volunteer for action songs.  She has now started to jump up with both feet leaving the ground – helped by all the practicing on her trampoline.  Click MORE to read about other milestones… Continue reading “18 months old”
