Day four saw us in a favourable position to come home and manage on our own. We have breast-feeding under control, we know how many layers of clothing to use in which temperatures, we practiced bathing, nappy-changing and burping. The midwives on Ward 6 of Nelson Hospital were absolutely amazing and have prepared us well. We packed our gear and said goodbye… off for Poppy’s first ride in the car!

Poppy’s grandad is called “Yogi” and he celebrated his 60th birthday just two days after her birth. Here they are together in hospital.
Poppy Memphis Ford
We are thrilled to announce the arrival of our brand new daughter: Poppy Memphis Ford. She was born in Nelson hospital (same as her mother) at 10.40pm on the first of February weighing eight pounds. At 16 days overdue, she has been eagerly awaited both here and overseas… Here is a montage of Poppy’s first day!
By the way, if you didn’t know, Fred and Adrienne were married in Memphis, Tennessee – therefore the significance of Poppy’s middle name! As an American citizen, Poppy will also be celebrating US holidays and traditions along with our good old kiwi ones.
